WHO Dealt It?

(In the Car, Pillow Fort)

This activity will turn you all into detectives.

The location: A family car trip.

The crime: A Fart

The weapon: Someone's butt

Start with Episode one and listen along with us and try to get to the bottom who did it.  In between episodes we invite you to pause and discuss with each other who you think dealt it.

What you will need:

  • A notebook (this is your DETECTIVE NOTEBOOK now)

  • A pen

  • A peg for your nose. Just in case.

  • A toilet roll.

Tips:

  1. it might be useful to draw a picture of the suspects and list the clues that point to them.

  2. Get a giant pin board, some red string, thumb tacks, a Sherlock Holmes Hat and a side kick. Parents make excellent side kicks.

BONUS ACTIVITY: DUST FOR FINGERPRINTS

The detectiving does not need to stop here. Here’s how to to dust for finger prints in your own house. Find out who ate your favourite snack, drained the battery on your iPad, or slipped a sloth into your schoolbag!

What you will need:

  • Talcum powder

  • Sticky tape

  • Scissors

  • A very soft paintbrush or makeup brush

How to do it:

  1. Find a smooth surface where the crime took place. The fridge door, the table, your otter.

  2. Dip your paintbrush into the talcum powder. Just a little. This is science, not a snowstorm.

  3. Very gently brush the powder over the surface in small circles. If there's a fingerprint hiding there, it will slowly appear like a sloth from a school bag.

  4. Once you can see the print, carefully lay a piece of sticky tape over it and press down gently.

  5. Peel the tape off slowly and stick it into your DETECTIVE NOTEBOOK.

  6. Compare it to the fingerprints of your suspects. To get their prints, press each suspect's finger onto the powdered surface first, then lift with tape.

  7. Find your match. Make your accusation. Demand a confession. Collect the reward money. Give us 50% of your reward money to buy snacks.
